Ok so...here's the plan. We are going to grand convention next week. Where they are going to see chapters from all over the US (and Canada). So in this 'Big Picture' setting I want to challenge them.
(Sitting in a circle)
1. First I want to ask them if they know the social aim of the fraternity (widest influence for good). Then what they want their chapter's legacy to be. What do you want to be known for?
2. Do you know what your current reputation is? (go around the room or popcorn style) (Then I'd tell them)
3. What can you do to get from where you are now to what you want to be known as.
4. Then I want to tell them a little bit about how to make the Male Fraternities respect them more. (The plan another sorority is taking)
5. Also I bought this book for them: The Art and Power of Being a Lady. Before I give it to them I want to preface the book by explaining what its about (Its a look into what most would think is common respect - not common to them ...not going to tell them this part in parenthesis). I'll tell them that this is what a Modern Lady is, not an Emily Post Ettiqette book. Its someone like Jackie Kennedy and Oprah.. someone with respect for themselves and others, a social conscious, morals, strength, doesn't have to act like a man in the business world but not inferior (we can debate that point later).
what else?

That's a spectacular list. I think it wouldn't hurt to supplement the book with some Gail Evans material. I would save that for the members who truly seek self improvement. A necessary reality to face is that some of them will not adapt to change...even though it is for the better. I think accountability partners would be good to. Setting goals and holding each other accountable...like a support group.
